Throughout history God has revealed that His house is to be 'a house of prayer for all nations' (Is 56:7; Matt 21:13). The 'house of prayer' speaks of a community of people living in intimate agreement with God - agreement with who He is (expressed in worship); agreement with his purposes in the earth (expressed in intercession). We are each designed to experience the reality of enjoyable prayer - sharing as partners in the stunning drama of God's glory filling the earth!
As such, the New Life 'Prayer and Worship Centre', or prayer room, plays a central role in our community. The prayer room can be likened to the ‘nucleus’ or the ‘engine room’ for all our activities.
• Encounter – whilst our personal intimacy with God is essential, He reveals himself in a unique way when we gather together. This reality has been demonstrated throughout history as believers have followed the ancient paths of speaking and singing Scripture to God and one another. Corporate worship and prayer opens the way for us to grow together in the knowledge of God and in living the Great Commandment lifestyle (Matt 22:37-38).
• Connect – the Prayer Room is a core part of the social fabric of New Life. As people are flowing in and out of the Prayer Room, it is a place where we meet with God and one another, and grow in enjoying Him and enjoying each other.
• Partnership – in pursuing an active prayer life, we are constantly challenged with the lie that we are wasting time talking to a wall when there is so much to do! However, we are convinced in agreement with the Bible that our primary role as believers is to walk in intimacy with God, and from that place truly worthwhile productivity will flow (John 5:19, 15:4).
