Before you read the vision/purpose/mission sections, here's some important introductory information you should know:
Introducing... palal. One of the Hebrew words meaning ‘to pray’ is palal. At its root, palal literally means to ‘fall down to the ground in the presence of one in authority and plead a cause’. The Bible clearly speaks of God’s desire for a people who journey together in intimate partnership with Him – the Supreme Authority over the universe. The church’s eternal identity is described by God as a ‘house of prayer for all nations’ (Is 56:7). Our goal is to live in the reality of enjoyable prayer - or palal - and for every aspect of New Life Christian Community to be birthed, maintained and developed in prayer.
As such, the New Life Prayer Room plays a central role in our community. The Prayer Room can be likened to the ‘heart’ or the ‘engine room’ of all our activities.
• Encounter – whilst our personal intimacy with God is essential, He reveals himself in a unique way when we gather together. This reality has been demonstrated throughout history as believers have followed the ancient paths of speaking and singing Scripture to God and one another. Corporate worship and prayer opens the way for us to grow together in the knowledge of God and in living the Great Commandment lifestyle (Matt 22:37-38).
• Connect – the Prayer Room is a core part of the social fabric of New Life. As people are flowing in and out of the Prayer Room, it is a place where we meet with God and one another, and grow in enjoying Him and enjoying each other.
• Partnership – in pursuing an active prayer life, we are constantly challenged with the lie that we are wasting time talking to a wall when there is so much to do! However, we are convinced in agreement with the Bible that our primary role as believers is to walk in intimacy with God, and from that place truly worthwhile productivity will flow (John 5:19, 15:4).
